Office Manager and Doctor Sentenced for Defrauding Medicaid & Medicare of $3 Million
Nov 22, 2011The Office Manager plead guilty to fraud charges of knowingly billing for services that were not provided and was sentenced to a fine of $50,000 and 200 hours of community service. The FBI, OIG, and the states, Attorneys General are not "casting their nets" just for the big fish; they want to identify and bring to trial everyone in the "chain of control" of fraudulent medical claims. In fact, the press release for this sentencing states that "important cases have started with anonymous tips" and offers rewards to those who "provide information that leads to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction for insurance fraud."
