Tips for Successfully Monitoring Your Orthopaedic Providers’ Services - AAOS Webinar

On June 14, 2012, Kristi Stumpf, TCN Orthopaedic Coder, will be 
participating in an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
(AAOS) sponsored webinar. This webinar is a provided at no cost
to AAOS members. It is open to all AAOS members.

The topics that will be covered in the hour long webinar
include:
-compontents of a successful coding compliance plan
-use of the OIG workplan as a guide for components of a coding compliance plan
-tips for bringing surgeons and providers on onbard as active participants and supporters of the plan
-importance of both external and internal monitoring
-how to choose a reliable external resource for monitoring
-benefits of the use of an external review resourse
-sample follow up schedues for reviews based on error ratios
-importance of follow up on adverse review findings (provider training)
-retrospective vs prospective audits - what are the benefits and/or drawbacks

The focus of the webinar is to emphasize the importance of not only implementing and successfully
employing a coding compliance plan, the importance of outside input (external reviews), the
importance of follow up based on findings of review and bringing the providers on board to
support and actively participate in the coding compliance plan. The audio will be available post webinar through the AAOS website for several months
post presentation.
